LWRVC

New calendar of events is ready

The Leisure World RV Club will have its first meeting of the year on Tuesday, Jan. 21, in Clubhouse 4 at 6 p.m. Social hour begins at 5. The refreshment committee will be serving desserts, coffee, soda, beer and wine. The board of directors will hand out the new events calendar for 2014.

The first event is a campout at Quartzite, Ariz., Jan. 23-27. This is a four-night five-day trip. Wagonmasters are Bob Konier and Bob Croft.

February’s campout is at the Orange Country Fairgrounds, Feb. 14-16, two nights, three days. This trip is a club favorite and fills up fast. Wagonmasters are Bob and Linda Barisoff. A sign-up sheet and fliers are in the lot office.

February’s general meeting is on the 18th, at 6 p.m. Social hour begins at 5. There will be a soup and bread contest beginning at 5. Bring a crock pot of soup or bake a loaf of bread, for the contest. Winners will receive gift cards.

Alhambra

Spend afternoon celebrating St. Patrick’s Day

The PEO, Chapter RT, will escort a St. Patrick’s Day trip to see “Colorful Songs of Broadway” in Alhambra on Monday,March, 17.

Experience the luck and love of the Irish at the troupes’ annual St. Patrick’s Day show featuring Irish folk and popular songs including “Clancy Lowered the Boom,” “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling” along with music from “Brigadoon,” “Meet Me in St. Louis” and “The Happiest Millionaire.”

The cost of the trip is $85 and includes a three-course, waiter-served luncheon with wine and dessert, the show and transportation to the ballroom, overlooking a lake and golf course.

The bus will depart from the Amphitheater at 11 a.m.

Outing set to colorful Flower Fields

The New York Club in conjunction with the Los Alamitos Senior Club will escort a day-trip to the Flower Fields, March 19.

Visit the dazzling array of flowers covering the hillsides in Carlsbad. The wagon ride will take guests through the rows of flowers that attract visitors from around the world.

There will be time for shopping at the Carlsbad Outlet Mall next door. Lunch at Hunter’s Steakhouse is included. The cost is $72 per person.
