LWers sail on Royal Caribbean’s biggest ship

Eight Leisure Worlders traveled onboard the Allure of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s biggest cruise ship. They departed from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Oct. 6, and headed to the Western Caribbean with ports-of-call in LebadeeHaiti; Falmouth, Jamaica; and Cozumel, Mexico.

On the ship, Officer John Keller, horticulturist, gave a tour of the “Central Park.” It is similar the one in New York, but on a smaller scale. The park is landscaped with tropical foliage, seasonal flowers, shrubs and trees.

The ship has a Boardwalk, Royal Promenade, youth zone, zip line, rock climbing walls, surf simulators, sports court, lots of swimming pools and saunas, exercise room, ice-skating rink, mini-golf course, a hand-carved carousel and a Dreamworks 3-D movie.

For relaxation, there’s a spa plus the gaming room and casino.

The LWers watched the Oceanaria Aqua Show every night in the Aqua Theater, with its graceful diver, glittering fountains dancing and synchronized acrobatic show.

“Chicago,” the musical broadway show razzle-dazzled. There was the Ice Games Ice Show – with a roll of the dice, the adventure begins on Monopoly board and Comedy Live, along with the Dreamworks Character parade.

Cruises are known for their unending food. No matter where one turned there’s food. Everybody came back rounded, happy and ready for the next trip.
