Due to the Christmas holiday, the Golden Rain Foundation Board of Directors meeting will be held Monday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 4.



The Leisure World swimming pool and hot pool were closed for annual maintenance Dec. 9.They are expected to reopen Saturday, Dec. 21. Updates will be provided.



The following information (notice of insurance coverage, billing and collection procedures, assessments and foreclosure, payments, meetings and payment plans, information re CA Civil Code Sections 1363.850 and 1369.590, internal dispute resolution procedures, alternative dispute resolution, right to receive copies of minutes, and procedures for remodeling) is distributed to members of the Golden Rain Foundation and shareholders/homeowners of the Mutual Corporations. Throughout these notices, there are references to an “association.” The Golden Rain Foundation has been determined to be an association by the courts of this state. References to Civil Code sections are used only as a guide.






At the GRF Board meeting on November 26, 2013 the Board approved the contract for the placement of property, boiler and machinery, flood (excluding earthquake), general liability and automobile liability insurance with Philadelphia and the placement of umbrella liability, Forefront Portfolio (crime, fiduciary, kidnap, ransom, extortion and workplace violence), E&O, D&O/Employee Practices Liability and Cyber Liability Coverage with the recommended carriers through DLD Insurance Brokers, Inc. for the period December 1, 2013, to December 1, 2014, at an overall premium of $1,569,126.


This summary of the policies of insurance provides only certain information, as required by subdivision (f) of Section 1365 of the Civil Code, and should not be considered a substitute for the complete policy terms and conditions contained in the actual insurance policies. Any association member may, upon written request and provision of reasonable notice, review the association’s insurance policies and, upon written request and payment of reasonable duplication charges, obtain copies of those policies. Although the association maintains the insurance policies specified in this summary, the association’s insurance policies may not cover your property, including personal property or real property improvements to or around your dwelling, or personal injuries or other losses that occur within or around your dwelling. Even if a loss is covered, you may nevertheless be responsible for paying all or a portion of any deductible that applies. Association members should consult their individual insurance broker or agent for appropriate additional coverage.

The effective date of the above insurance policies is December 1st. The deductible for Directors & Officers for the Mutuals was increased to $50,000. The deductible for Directors & Officers for the GRF was increased to $100,000. GRF E&O deductible remained at $50,000. The limit for the Cyber policy for the Mutual and GRF was increased to $2,000,000.

The coverage provided by these policies exceeds the levels required by law. Claims in excess of this coverage will not result in any direct individual liability by any member. However, there could be a proportionate corporate assessment levied to pay the amount of any judgment in excess of the corporate coverage limits. Earthquake and flood insurance are not provided due to cost and coverage prohibitions.

The property and general liability insurance policies provide coverage for the Golden Rain Foundation and Mutual Corporations. The Directors and Officers Liability policies provide separate coverage for the Mutual Corporations and the Golden Rain Foundation.

he Golden Rain Foundation Board welcomes shareholders to open committee meetings. The following is the schedule for December:

The Library and Security, Bus and Traffic committee meetings have been cancelled this month.



The Rossmoor-Los Alamitos Republican Women, Federated, will have its annual Christmas and Holiday Installation Luncheon at the Courtyard by Marriott, 5865 Katella Ave., Cypress, Saturday, Dec. 14, from10:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Cost is $25 per person.

The event includes a hot luncheon buffet, the installation and Christmas and holiday music by Don Rounds.

Members may bring an unwrapped toy for the Spark of Love Toy Drive. A representative from the Orange County Fire Department will pick up the donated toys.
