Doris Ware, Mutual 8, passed away peacefully at her home with family around her on July 31, 2014.
She moved to Leisure World 21 years ago from Whittier, Calif.
She was born in Oklahoma to Rosa and Herbert Snow. She married William Murphy and had two children, Monte and Shelia, and moved to California in the 1950s.
Doris worked as a book binder for Pacific Press in Los Angeles for a number of years.
She later married Jack Ware. They enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. and Canada in their motor home.
For the past 10 years, she went annually with her daughter and grandchildren to the Colorado River, where she rode boats, and on the back of Sea-Doos and played corn hole. She could be found every morning sitting by the river sipping her coffee.
Her family, neighbors and friends say, “to know her is to love her.”
Doris is survived by her daughter, Sheila Arp of Leisure World; her brother, Leroy Snow, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be Aug. 11 at Rose Hills from 5-8 p.m. Services will be held Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. at Rose Hills. A reception will directly follow at her home, Mutual 8, 180-G.

Handen, Irene B.
1920-2014

Irene B. Hansen, 94, Mutual 2, died July 30, 2014.
Irene was born April 1, 1920, to Thorbin and Mary Moen in her family home in Lankin, N.D.
She married Benjamin Sorensen who died in 1954, leaving her with five children to raise on her own.
Irene was a nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Billings, Mont., before moving to California and working at St. Marys Hospital in Long Beach.
She married Howard Hansen who died in 1985.
Irene moved to Leisure World in 1993 from Cherry Valley, Calif.
She was a volunteer at the blood pressure clinic at the Healthcare Center. She was involved in a Community Church Bible study group and read and shared with residents who were unable to get out of their homes.
“Irene is the golden thread that binds her family,” writes her daughter. She was a beautiful soul, kind, generous and compassionate to all she encountered.
Irene is survived by her two daughters, two sons, nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two sisters.
A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date.
