Men’s Golf Club
Low over-the-field prize was shared by Peter Oh and Keith Song, with 53s at the Men’s Golf Club tournament July 9.
Closest to the pin on the eighth hole was Peter Oh at 2 feet 2 inches. On the 17th cup, Mike Glance’s shot settled in at 5-11.
Golfers sank five balls in the designated circles, winning $1.
Keith Song’s 48 won the low-handicap (0-5 handicap) first flight. Walt Bier carded a 50 for second, followed by Rick Lingenfelter and Peter Oh, 51; Jay Kim and Bob Turner, 52; and Tom Soonthorn 54.
Paul Alloway, Bob Gass and tournament chairman Harry Konishi won the second flight (6-9) tied at 51. Bob Barnum and Ron Pine needed a 52 to tie for second, followed by Roger Addie and Young Lee, 53; and Mike Oh and Bill Tusher, 54.
Bill Lesher’s 49 won the third flight (10-13), a stroke ahead of Dale Williamson. Manny Miranda, Steven Moody and Greg Weller shared third with 51s.
Bob Marselle’s 52 claimed fourth, followed by Lem Jameson and Sang Kim, 53; and Chang Choi and Stan Shiroma, 54.
Mike Glance and John Kim tied for first place into the fourth flight (14-18) with 48 strokes. Bill Aarnes, Jim DeMattia, Marv Jones, Bruce Scheuermann, Walt Toney and Carl Wiggins carded 54s for second.
In recent holes-in-one, Joe DeDonato hit the seventh hole on June 29, according to Sandra deDubovay.
On July 7, the first cup was the destination of Moon Jo’s shot, said witness Gee Gee Kwak.

Tournament Poker Club
Betty Bilyeu outlasted Wendy Wu at the final table to win the Tournament Poker Club event July 5 at Clubhouse 6.
At the end of the last hand Betty beat Wendy’s ace with an ace jack combination.
It was the first tournament win for Betty since she joined the club two years ago.
Betty and Wendy were followed by Bette Sargent, Don Saunders, Phil Kay, Ray Haines, and Grace Buster.
The final table was dealt by Club President Susan Dodson.
Betty has lived in Mutual 4 for nine years after retiring from a career as a nurse.
She belongs to many card clubs and also enjoys playing chess and bingo.
High hands were Ralph Provow with four kings and Yuki Mancebo with four 4s.

Bill McKusky won the first flight with a 64 in Friday Golf Group play July 11, at the Riverview course. He also had two birds and was closest to the pin.
Second was Jim Dickerson with a net of 67, followed by Tom McCullough, 68; Merle McGee, 74; and Paul Cose, 78 and the only other bird.
Sandy Boardman won the second flight with a 70; followed by Lowell Goltra, 74; Marvin Ballard and Michael Breen, 77; and Ed Dragan, 80.
The group will play the Willowick course tomorrow and solve the second flight bird carryover.
Bill Barnes high score of 833 at the July 9 meeting of the Cribbage Club. Forty-seven members attended. Second was Karl Henry with a 829 followed by Jean Wilson, 827; and Nancy Demery 823.
Gary Greytak and Kel Keleman won six of the seven games.
Gene and Margaret Smith celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary and furnised cake and ice cream. Norman Martin helped Margaret serve. Sol Noritca provided mixed nuts.
The club meets at noon Tuesdays in Clubhouse 1. To be assured of a table, players should arrive by 12:10 p.m. Partners are not needed. Residents are invited to play. Seven games are scheduled, changing tables at the end of each game.

Members were saddened by news of the death of Carlene LeCocq, a longtime member and former starter. Her smile and bubbly personality will be missed.

Bob Munn shot a five-under par 66 on July 7, low round of the day, to win the second flight in Monday Golf Group play.
Mike Looney and Marv Ballard tied for second place with matching 69s and Mike had low putts, 31.Lowell Goltra, Bob Looney and Ed Dragan rounded out the flight.
Bill McKusky stayed on his game in the first flight, winning with a solid 69 and a birdie. Tom McCullough was second with a 73 and Merle McGee followed with a 74 and a birdie.
Rounding out the flight were Larry Hillhouse with a birdie and closest to the pin on the 12th hole, and Paul Cose. Bill and Merle tied for low putts with 31.
Rick Lenger posted his third qualifying round.
There will be a carryover on the closest to the pin on the fourth hole and birdie carryover in the second flight.
Next play will be July 21 at Meadowlark.
