On a personal note, I would like to thank Dr. Betty Coven for her service on the GRF Board of Directors. She will be missed.

Mini Bus Orientation
Only one program slated this month
The Golden Rain Transportation Department will conduct an informational and instructional meeting on using the Minibus service from 10-11 a.m., July 10, in Clubhouse 3, Room 3. This is a change in the normal schedule. The July 10 session will not be repeated in the evening as usual. Bus service orientations are normally held on the first Thursday of every month at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
These informational sessions are for new and current shareholders who would like to learn about the minibus system routes and timetables. The orientation also provides information on the Golden Rain Access Bus service, which provides transportation by appointment for handicapped people, and other bus and transportation services available inside the community.
For more information, call 431-6586, ext. 372, and ask to speak to the Minibus Supervisor Grant Winford.
Stop sign installed on St. Andrews Dr.
A three-way stop has been installed at St. Andrews Drive and Interlachen Road. The purpose of the traffic change is to enhance safety at the intersection. Pedestrians, cyclists and scooter operators should use caution at the new stop until everyone adapts to it.
Emergency volunteers given thank you barbecue
The Mutual 6 Emergency Preparedness Committee held a Thank You Barbecue June 29 for the Volunteer Emergency Responders who participated in the 2013 California Shakeout Drill. The drill last October was a great success because of their participation.
Twenty-five volunteers enjoyed a lunch of hot dogs, a variety of salads, cookies and ice cream.
Many thanks to Lynn Baidack for hosting the barbecue at her home. Each volunteer was given a gift bag containing a flyer about how to avoid slip and falls in the home, a Red Cross Emergency Preparedness Guide and an emergency light stick.
Mutual 6 is grateful to these volunteers for their support of the Emergency Preparedness Program for the community. Any Mutual 6 resident who is interested in becoming a volunteer for this important safety effort, contact a committee members: Lynn Baidack, 296-5342; Carol Burge (714) 345-1520; Maria Giegerich 596-9983; Margaret Guttler (662) 431-6334 ; Susan Hopewell, 430-6044; or a board director.
